Economy The proximity to the US – Mexico border
provides a tactical benefit for commerce. There are seven industrial
parks in the city, all providing full electrical and water services
and are located with strategic access to highways and railroad stations.
There are five main productive activities in the region: mining, metallurgical,
textile, furniture, marble and food. These five branch into thirteen
industrial categories, providing jobs for more than 50,000 people.
The government offers tax exemptions for all types of new and existing
industries as an incentive for the economic development of the region.
Public Safety It is considered one of the safest cities in Mexico. Only one bank robbery and one kidnapping in the last three
years!
Health Care There are many premium quality health
care facilities in La Laguna, covering a varied array of specialties.

- Hospital Angeles Torreón offers high quality services
under the strictest world standards. Placing
La Laguna at the forefront of the Latin American institutions
of its type.
- Sanatorio Español. Founded in 1906 by Spanish immigrants,
this non-profit institution has been the
high-quality health care provider for many generations.
- Instituto de la Visión. Medical center devoted entirely
to ophthalmology. Expert doctors perform
lasik eye surgery using the most advanced technical equipment
with the same standards and results but lower costs than in the
United States .
Education La Laguna has some of the finest schools
in the country, including a vast variety of high schools and 19 public
and private universities. These offer 60 different careers, 35 masters,
and some PhD’s. Focusing on the balance between the available
job offers and the trained work force, schools design special technical
degree programs specialized in current industry’s needs and offer
customized education programs for new businesses opening in the area.
